I have only just joined Carrick and look forward to working closely with the Carrick team, and also to build and grow a close-knit team in the Pretoria region.

What is a typical day at work like for you?

Each day is different, which is what I love about my job. Today I may meet a potential new client for the first time, and tomorrow I may be having coffee with an existing client, discussing the client’s future.

On top of my five and a half years’ experience, working at Carrick provided me with the opportunity for self-development and gaining maturity within the industry. It has also allowed me to obtain certificates through the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and I am currently enrolled for the Higher Certificate in Wealth Management. The knowledge I have gained while working at Carrick enables me to engage with any client type while providing the best financial options suited to their requirements. I contribute one of the largest books within the company and have contributed to the expansion of the Johannesburg office via my company consultations as well as one-on-one engagements.

What is a typical day at work like for you?

I meet with current clients to ensure valuable, proactive client experiences and discussions. I also have discussions regarding new prospects and have meetings with prospective new clients. Furthermore, I acquire referrals and networking opportunities by partaking in event planning (Gold Days, Ride & Drive Events, Wine Tasting etc). Then I do follow up discussions and service provider interactions.

I was extremely fortunate to have originally been hired to start up the Carrick Concierge division in 2017. My impact within that department allowed the team to grow to where it is today. I believe that everyone should have access to tailored advice and service; something that grows with you, rather than something that you must fit into. Giving the highest levels of care and attention to clients throughout their financial journey, with the support of my team, means that we build long-lasting relationships which add true value to people’s lives. My clients are part of the Carrick family and are treated with the highest levels of care as such. This all encompasses the Carrick vision and values.

What is the best part about your job?

The best part of my job is making a real impact in people’s futures and creating a legacy for their families.

Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.

I have been involved in building, coaching and working with a team of hard-working and caring individuals. As such we have grown an amazing ecosystem of shared values that we drive together. It pushes us to go beyond obstacles we may face in finding ways of achieving the shared goals of ourselves and our clients. The ability to adapt to change has also been a strong area of growth on a personal and professional level for me. If you pair all of this with our positivity, our focus, and an insatiable appetite to constantly raise the bar, it gives one a recipe for success all round. These are all things I am truly grateful for.

What is a typical day at work like for you?

First, my day is usually structured around ensuring that my team and I have a solid plan for the day. I provide coaching and ensure that we are maximizing every hour to add value in as many ways as possible. When I am not actually travelling to meet with them, I get to catch up with some amazing clients all over the world with the help of the modern technology that we are so fortunate to have. Client servicing is also a huge part of my day-to-day activities, as is being there for clients who reach out for support. My door is always open; physically and virtually.

Having been trained by the Directors of the company, I have a good understanding of what it takes to be successful in the industry. This has helped me often to find alternative ways of looking at problems and thereby to help my colleagues and clients find the best solution. I am very approachable and always try to be kind and helpful to others in my everyday life. I truly enjoy helping people regardless of whether they are clients or colleagues. I hope my positivity has an impact on the people around me. In conclusion, I think the fact that I care about people makes me an asset in many respects for the company.

What is the best part about your job?

The best part of my job is meeting new people every day and the fact that the advice I provide is never the same; it changes all the time due to ever-changing markets and people being in different stages of their lives. This makes my work very interesting as you never know what to expect.

Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.

As already mentioned, being trained by Carrick’s Directors has given me tremendous insight into how the industry works and has helped me to give my clients the best advice and service. Since joining Carrick, I have also completed my RE5 certificate, as well the International Wealth and Investment Management level 3+ qualification from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). I plan to continue my studies to level 4 by the end of the year.
