Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.
I am a Private Wealth Manager and work with two Business Development Specialists. I keep my teammates hyped up as I exert a lot of energy and positivity in the office. I am a fun person, loud and full of love and want everyone around me to be happy.
What is the best part about your job?
The best part of what I do is that I get to meet different people and hear, share and take part in their life journeys. I love people and therefore also any opportunity to sit and listen and help them achieve their dreams. I love the fact that what I do will impact them 10, 15 or 20 years from now. And I treasure all the relationships I have and am building with my clients that go beyond just financial planning, so much so that we become like family. Nothing gives me greater joy than meeting with people and getting to know them and learning how I can add any value to their lives, no matter how little.
Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.
I joined the company in January 2015, so I am part of the furniture. Professionally I have grown from being an assistant in 2015 and 2016 to going through the training successfully and becoming a Private Wealth Manager in January 2017. Again, this was because my passion is in being with people and I wanted to be there for my clients, from initial contact to walking the full journey with them, which is what I have achieved. Personally, I joined the organisation as a single mom to two little boys and they are my WHY for waking up and doing what I do. My role at Carrick has enabled me to be the best mom I can be for my boys and continue to be – something I know I would have struggled with being in a different job. I have also discovered and learnt a lot about myself, my strengths as a person and as a woman, realising that nothing is impossible or beyond me as Tatenda, female Wealth Manager and single mother.
What is a typical day at work like for you?
A typical day for me consists of green tea at my desk, checking emails, catching up with the Business Development Specialists on the previous day’s activities and planning for the new day. Also, in and out of meetings throughout the day, doing the school run for my kids, then back in the office. If there are no more meetings, I do admin and planning for the next day. Sometimes late meetings go up to 7pm but I try not to make this a habit as I have homework with the kids to do.
