Family wealth planning
Planning beyond one generation
Link your family’s investments on one platform and pay less in administration fees, while everyone keeps their own portfolio and their own adviser.
- No change to who owns what
- Advice stays individual
- A conversation, not a commitment
Why link your family’s investments?
Liberty, as one of our providers who offers portfolio linking, charges their admin fee in bands: the larger the overall investment value, the lower the rate on the whole amount. Family pricing, also called family linking, lets eligible family members be counted together for that banding without pooling anything.
- 5×lower rate in Liberty’s top band (0.115%) than in its first band (0.575%)
- 33%lower platform fees for a family of three with R2 million each
- R6,900a year saved by that family, every year
- 0changes to ownership, portfolios or advice
Work out your family’s saving
Enter what each family member holds on the platform. The calculator applies Liberty’s published bands to each person on their own, then to the family counted together.
Three family members with R6 million between them: counted separately they pay about R20,700 a year; linked, about R13,800. That is R6,900 a year, with nothing pooled and nobody’s portfolio changed.

Reproduced for information only; Liberty is the platform provider and is not affiliated with this page. The band is set by the overall investment value and applies to the whole amount; VAT treatment follows Liberty’s charges schedule. Figures are calculated by Carrick Wealth from those bands and are an illustration, not a quote: eligibility and any saving depend on Liberty’s rules and your family’s investments, and are not guaranteed. Platform fees are one part of total investment costs; portfolio and advice fees apply as usual.
How it works
- Tell us who is in the picture. Spouses, partners, children, parents or a family trust. Nothing is pooled and ownership does not change.
- We check what is eligible. Your Private Wealth Manager confirms which investments can be linked and what Liberty’s rules allow. It isn’t automatic: the benefit depends on the eligible investments and the applicable requirements.
- Everyone keeps what is theirs. Investments stay individually owned, and each family member is advised on their own needs and goals. Only the fee calculation changes.
