Steve graduated from university in 1992 with a degree in Business and Finance. Despite his early ambitions to become a professional rugby player, Steve was drawn to the world of finance and started working as a Financial Advisor in Bristol, United Kingdom, in 1993. He has been providing financial advice ever since.
After 13 years as a qualified Advisor in the UK, holding both the Certificate and Diploma of the Personal Finance Society, he was headhunted to work in the global arena. This started him off with a position in Singapore where he spent 5 years specialising in the offshore market. In particular he helped expats with their financial planning and wealth management. Having married a South African and being a British expat himself, Steve took a special interest in offshore tax planning for British expats and exploring all the opportunities that brings.
After Singapore, Steve returned to the UK with his family and opened a UK office for The Henley Group and later assisted in the acquisition of the Henley Group by St James’s Place. Steve returned to the offshore market in 2017, this time as Regional Director for Credence International in Dubai, before moving to South Africa to head up Acquisitions for Carrick Wealth. Steve has since taken on the role as Training and Development Manager and provides sales and product training to the Wealth Specialists across the Carrick Group.
Things he is interested in:
Steve still takes a keen interest in rugby, although generally now from the sideline watching his young boy play at school. He likes to play the odd round of golf when he gets the chance between work and parenting. He also enjoys visiting family in the UK and old friends around the globe during his holidays. If the air is warm enough, you may spot him on his Vespa, and if the water is warm enough, you might even find him scuba diving.
We are always looking for driven people to join our growing team.
