Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.

I am a Wealth Specialist in the Client Servicing department and, I believe, as such I have contributed to the team and clients in multiple ways. I am someone who is extremely inquisitive, and this has led me to always want to discover new ways of doing things. From multiple discussions with clients in an effort to understand what they would like to see in a meeting instead of what we think they want to see, I have developed new ways of analysing their portfolios. I always want to learn, and I enjoy working in a team where I can see how others go about their business. I do believe all of the above adds to the vison of Carrick, which includes to constantly evolve and adapt to today’s volatile world.


What is the best part about your job?

The best part of my job is found in the interaction with clients and the satisfaction of helping them, which goes significantly beyond just being an advisor who reports to them.


Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick. 

I believe both go hand in hand and that if the one lacks or thrives, it will directly affect the other. Having been with Carrick since the beginning of 2018 in the graduation programme and looking at where I am now, I sometimes cannot believe it. We sometimes need to step back and out of the conversation in order to see how much the organisation has allowed us to develop in becoming our own advisors while still striving to enhance our skills. There have been many hurdles along the way, but I guess that is exactly why I say the above. We do not really develop in comfortable positions, do we?


What is a typical day at work like for you? 

I divide my work time into meeting days and admin days. I do not really like mixing the two together as I believe it’s counterproductive. A meeting day will – just like it says – consist of meetings and seeing the clients I have allocated to a particular week. It may be a servicing and update meeting, or it could be a restructuring or new business meeting. My admin days consist of doing valuations for clients and analysing their portfolios in a way that allows me to see whether it still matches their strategy. We must be a lot more ‘on it’ in today’s world. It also goes without saying that you need some office banter in-between all this which is always enjoyable.
