Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.
I was part of the team that established the Carrick office in Zimbabwe in 2015. I am very proud of the fact that I have contributed in building up the brand and the client base from scratch, to the point where we are now the most prominent advisory firm in Zimbabwe and one of the fastest-growing in Africa.
As I was a Business Development Specialist Before graduating to being a Wealth Specialist, I have been able to share my experience and knowledge by training all the Business Development Specialists that have joined our office over the past 3 years. I believe my charisma and passion energises, brings life to the office, and contributes to the energetic environment and atmosphere of the office.
What is the best part about your job?
The best part of my job is meeting with different people all the time and learning about their respective journeys. Every single person has a story to tell and I am always fascinated by these stories, where they have come from, and the giants they have had to defeat to get to where they are. Being able to make a significant change in the lives of people gives me great satisfaction. I know that five, ten or even twenty years from now I am going to bump into those people and they will tell me how they were able to send their children to university, or how they are now retired comfortably because of the advice I gave them!
We don’t have a savings culture in Africa due to a number of reasons. But being able to share practical ways of growing and preserving wealth for clients every day is the reason I get excited about each Monday morning.
Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.
I have been in the offshore advisory industry for 7 years and have been at Carrick for 5 years. I always wondered why when wealthy people die, particularly in Africa, the wealth tends to die with them. In some cases, the families that are left behind have to struggle and there is nothing to show for it after a while. I have learnt the principles of growing and preserving wealth which I have been able to extend both to my clients as well as my family and friends.
What is a typical day at work like for you?
I am in the office by 7.30am and go over the day’s tasks with super-efficient and amazing Business Development Specialist, Ranganai Makoni, who assists me in being better organized. I normally start seeing clients from 10am till about 6pm. In between I check emails and call clients and prospects.
We appreciate the considerate words from our clients about their experience of working with Carrick. We have kept the identity anonymous to honour the privacy of our clients.
“This dates back to October 2016 when I was introduced to Carrick. Cliffton, with my personal involvement, made a thorough and professional assessment of my risk profile. A suitable investment package was then put together. Since then, on a regular basis, we have been analysing together the performance of the portfolio and making informed adjustments where necessary. Apart from the current year, as a result of the covid 19 pandemic, my investments have performed far better than expectation. I am very happy with the way that Cliffton managed my portfolio and provided me with sound financial advice. Cliffton went beyond providing for me, as his client. On a voluntary basis this was extended to my immediate family members. As my son was preparing to move to the United States of America this year for tertiary studies, Cliffton assisted him in setting up offshore facilities for use while he is in the USA.”
We are always looking for driven people to join our growing team.
