Carrick strengthens onshore financial division

paul de Waal - Carrick WealthCape Town, Friday, 27 July 2018 — The Carrick Group today announced the appointment of Paul de Waal to head the company’s new local (onshore) division. This follows his promotion to the position of Director: Wealth and Advisory.

Carrick, an independent financial advisory service, is renowned for providing its clients with specialist financial advice in the true offshore arena. It is also the company to which they turn for advice on local (onshore) financial products, such as retirement annuities, risk cover (critical illness, income protection, life cover, etcetera), estate planning, and foreign exchange dealings.

Whereas previously these divisions were handled separately, Carrick’s service now provides the client with one wealth specialist, who handles the full spectrum of their local investment and risk cover as well as their offshore wealth management.

Greg Stockton, Joint Managing Director of Carrick Wealth, said the decision was in line with Carrick’s Integrated Wealth Management strategy.
“At Carrick, we have always focused on an integrated approach to wealth management and have always aimed to meet the expectations of an increasingly aware and informed clientele whilst providing suitable solutions for their financial needs and goals,” he said. “Listening to increased demands from our clients, we decided to train and upskill our advisors — wealth specialists — to enable them to provide onshore (local) as well as offshore advice.”

Mike Potts, Joint Managing Director of Carrick Wealth, congratulated de Waal on his appointment.

“Paul has many years of experience in the South African financial services industry and has always been recognized as one of our most experienced advisors,” he said. “More importantly, he has been instrumental in setting up and developing the local division of Carrick. In his new position, he will continue to oversee the development of onshore trained financial planners as well as being responsible for the integration of true offshore and local wealth management.”

Potts added that Carrick has also increased its support team to provide specialised local compliance and administrative for the division.
De Waal joined Carrick Wealth in November 2015. He currently also sits on the investment committee representing the local investment houses to ensure that they meet Carrick’s high standards of transparency, benchmarked success, consistency, and reputation.
