Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.
I am a Wealth Specialist at Carrick and work both up along the Garden Route and in Cape Town. That allows me to be the one who has tea with all our fond retiree clients! On a more serious note though, I have been part of the Cape Town team with David Monteiro since the beginning of Carrick. So, I have probably helped to shape the history of the team and I try and share with the new folk who join the knowledge gained over those years that is specific to our company. I also have a great dog who makes up the other half of my team as he schmoozes all my clients!
What is the best part about your job?
The best part is spending time with my clients, making their lives easier and simpler… and of course, having the tea and cake they make especially for me! But seriously, I think it is the diversity of the people I meet that I really enjoy. And seeing the impact I leave on their lives, which usually is their sense of relief and comfort that everything is going to be taken care of.
Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.
I think that since I have been at Carrick, I have grown more confident in my ability to really assess the needs of my clients. Also, it has taught me how to explain seemingly complicated financial topics to them, so that they too feel empowered and capable.
What is a typical day at work like for you?
I’m a stickler for schedule and wake up early, starting my day with a gentle walk. Then its coffee and catching up with my teammates and dealing with clients. I generally have a chat or send some texts to clients around lunchtime, touching base on things that I know are important to them, like a birthday or surgery or something special they might have mentioned that was happening to them. Afternoons are reserved for new clients and new business. After work is exercise hour and then some free time for me.
