Tell us about how you contribute to the success of Carrick Wealth as an organisation.

Firstly, I am part of the Durban team of associates, which although a small team, is very successfulI think what makes us a tight unit is that we have all worked together for the last 7 to 8 years. Our personalities differ in line with our wide range of ages, creating a great dynamic in our office. Our can do attitude and how we come together when the pressure is on, is something to be very proud of. The ability to assist individuals in all things financial, contributes to the success of Carrick as a whole. Each of us impact the team in our own special way and we can really pull together when the heat is on. At the end of the week we can loosen our ties, roll up our sleeves and enjoy a nice pint together, we are more than just a team – we are a family.
What is the best part about your job?

No one part is best. The industry itself is exciting. Having a personal interest in the markets makes what I do that more enjoyable. I am naturally competitive and pushing to reach my target is an exciting aspect of what I do. Because of that, the ability to always do my best for my clients is what I strive for. My clients and the people I meet are one of the best parts of my job, as well as making a difference in their lives, whether giving advice that meets their needs or simply phoning to say ‘hello, how are you’. In this way one builds not just a work relationship but a personal one too.

Tell us about your personal and professional growth while working at Carrick.

My love of people combined with my passion for the share market and trading saw me challenge myself into a new career path. The thrill of analysing the markets and the battle between the bulls and bears was the start of my exciting journey which has lead me to Carrick. My belief that knowledge is power has lead me to excelling in both my Regulatory Exams (RE5 and CISI). We are a fastpaced, targetdriven, commissiononly industry and keeping up to date with my studies as well as any changes in the industry ensures that I always move forward. On a personal note, I’m pretty much an easy-going, love to have a laugh kind of guy. When I am not out and about in my suit and tie, you will usually find me in a pair of board shorts enjoying a session in the ocean or on the couch glued to the F1.

What is a typical day at work like for you?

My typical workday consists of a mixture of making phone calls, seeing clients and prospects, and doing the paperwork that needs to be done. There will also be some banter here and there with my peers during the day. And that pretty much sums up a typical day at the office for me when I am not out and about.
