St Thomas Home for Children

Durban | March 2016

Carrick Durban donates generously to St Thomas Home for Children

Carrick DurbanSt Thomas Home for Children has found a special place in the hearts of the Carrick Wealth Durban team; the home was established in 1959 as a registered Not-for-Profit organisation in the Ethekwini Municipality. They strive to uphold the rights of children and their mission is to provide residential care for 60 orphaned and vulnerable children ranging from 2-10 years of age.

They are committed to providing holistic programmes which will enhance the quality of life of the children in their care while also facilitating the re-integration of the children into the communities and families from which they came.

St Thomas held a fundraising committee meeting and following on this, provided Signature of Hope with a wish-list of items that the home was in need of. Tania Smith, the office administrator of Carrick Durban, rose to the occasion beautifully and sourced the items that the home needed.

On Thursday the 24th of March 2016 delivery took place; consisting of groceries, office supplies and toiletries for the children as well as an Easter egg surprise just in time for the long Easter weekend!

Says Smith, “We were very happily welcomed and the children competed for a chance to carry the items into the home. They were very excited about all the goods and the staff were most appreciative of the donation. It is always a humbling experience to visit the home and we are always received with such joy.”
