Craig Featherby - Carrick Wealth

Craig believes that building a culture of leadership starts with those at the top – the drivers of the vision. Over a span of fourteen years in the financial services industry, Craig has concentrated on the craft of management, coupled with a passion for the financial services industry. He draws on a career that has taken him to the apex of the international finance industry, as far as the Middle East and Asia, and to some of the top positions in the financial world.

Born in Zimbabwe, junior-schooled in Melbourne, Australia, and educated at Kwazulu Natal’s Michaelhouse, throughout his journey Craig has carried with him the principles of leadership. From his early days at Ernst & Young and at ABSA Bank Limited, his career has taken him to the Middle East as a Financial Adviser and to the Far East, where he was involved in Wealth Management and Offshore Investments, eventually becoming Regional Manager for Africa (Financial Advisory/Wealth Management) for one of the largest independent offshore financial consultancies.

A philanthropist at heart, Craig believes that leadership should be translated into action to uplift the community. In this respect, he is a co-founder of Signature of Hope Trust and a generous donor to various NGOs.

Mike Potts - Carrick Wealth

Mike Potts

Director: Wealth Management and Advisory

Michael brings with him a wealth of experience in the financial services industry, including senior positions as a secured lending manager, sales manager and marketing manager.

Born in the UK, Michael holds qualifications from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) as well as certification in regulatory examinations with the Financial Services Board.

Prior to joining Carrick Wealth, Michael was area manager for an international offshore brokerage in Johannesburg, where he was responsible, over a period of four years, for team recruitment and development. During his tenure, Michael created their Business Development Team and the Johannesburg branch to the 5th position in the group. Having been a financial advisor himself, achieving top 5 consultant globally in 2013, he is passionate about creating and developing high performance teams.

Michael is a member of the Carrick Investment Committee which meets once a month to ensure that all the underlying managers are still operating within their mandates and that their risk-adjusted returns are in line with Carrick's expectations.

Things he's interested in:

Michael has a young family which keeps him very busy. In his free time, he relaxes by taking his dogs for long walks. This, he believes, helps him to clear his mind and re-focus on what is important.

Mike Fannin - Carrick Wealth

Mike Fannin

Director: Operations

Mike Fannin is an expert in designing tax-efficient solutions for high-net-worth clients, and is dedicated to the craft of creating sustainable retirement solutions. He holds a B.Comm degree from the University of Port Elizabeth, as well as various diplomas in Equities and Risk Management. Moreover, his expertise was honed over the course of twelve years in the crucible of London’s financial district.

There he co-founded and built Principia Group – a holistic Financial Services company that incorporated Financial Advice, Mortgage Procurement, Corporate Finance, Venture Capital, Tax, and Estate Planning divisions. The successful sale of the business to Montpelier Group in 2007 brought this chapter of Mike’s journey to a close. He returned to South Africa in 2010 to work for one of the industry’s largest financial consultancies.

Mike joined Carrick Wealth as a founding member and heads the Corporate Sales division where his team provides a variety of solutions to companies in order to enhance their product offerings to their clients. The team work to develop solutions that enhance a company’s current product offerings, delivering bespoke solutions that compliment business offerings.

Mike is a co-founder of Signature of Hope Trust. Through the activities of the trust, he is actively involved in the drive to raise funds that benefit its beneficiaries to make a real sustainable difference in the communities they serve.

Mike has a competitive spirit which drives him to compete in challenging multi-sport endurance events. He's completed in Ironman 70.3 (2014) and Ironman South Africa (2014).

Kieron McRae - Carrick Wealth

Kieron McRae

Director: Development and Brand

Born and raised in South Africa, Kieron has over 20 years of management consulting experience in strategy, leadership development and corporate culture alignment. After many years of working with large teams in the Eastern Free State, Kieron returned to Gauteng to set up a consultancy that would go on to provide strategic guidance organisations in sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Australia, the UK and Canada. For over 10 years Kieron played both an advisory and consulting role at every level, from executive boards and management teams to workers on the shop floor.

Kieron joined Carrick Wealth as a founding Director, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience, traveling far and wide in Africa and beyond, coaching and developing the talent within the Carrick group.

As Director of Development & Brand, Kieron says he has the 'best job in the world'. He's passionate about people and leadership, and gets the most satisfaction from the results he sees at the end of every day, living by the motto that you are never too big to do the small things that need to be done.

As a trustee of Signature of Hope Trust, Kieron realizes how fortunate he is, and why it is imperative to give back. Kieron is closely involved in the sponsorship of Chris Bertish's solo SUP paddle across the Atlantic to raise funds for a variety of charitable projects.

Kieron is a family man. He says he's taken a wealth of learning from his wife and two daughters, which he brings to his leadership role at work — patience, compassion and understanding.

Bryan Austen - Carrick Wealth

Bryan Austen

Director: Finance 

Bryan has always had a passion for numbers and financial markets and participated in the JSE Schools Challenge and UCT Mathematics competition to name a few. Bryan joined the workforce as a financial manager.  He went on to achieve his B.Comm from UNISA (Economics and Finance) studying while he worked as a general and financial manager in the printing industry where he successfully decreased costs by over 20% in three years.

Wanting experience in the corporate arena and to follow his true passion, Bryan joined an international financial services company in the role of Financial Officer: Africa.  It was here that Bryan gained invaluable experience setting up offices throughout Africa and taking on roles in admin and human resources. He has also passed his CISI and FSB regulatory examinations.

Bryan joined Carrick as Group Financial Manager and shortly thereafter promoted to Group Financial Director. Bryan was jointly responsible for setting up the financial, administration and human resources divisions both locally and in the new offices within the Carrick group.  Responsible for the overall financial functioning of the organisation, Bryan plays a key role in guiding the board with investment decisions, ensuring the security of the company's assets.

Bryan is the Financial Officer of the Signature of Hope Trust, which he handles with pride. He's a firm believer in giving back to the community and those in need.

For Bryan, life is all about balance. When he's not behind his desk analysing figures and trends, you'll find him spending time with his wife and son.

Bryan also likes taking part in extreme sport. He completed the gruelling IronMan triathlon (2014).

Anthony Palmer - Carrick Wealth

Anthony Palmer

Director: Corporate and Client Solutions

Anthony was born in Johannesburg and matriculated from Damelin college in 1991. He is a qualified chartered accountant, holding a B.Comm and B.Comm Accounting, is a Member of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants, a USA Series 7 and 63 Representative and a UK Securities and Financial Derivatives and Commodities Representative.

Anthony spent eleven years working abroad in structured credit sales and derivative marketing at JP Morgan in London and Deutsche Bank in London and Wall street. His last position at Deutsche Bank was as managing director and global head of the alternative risk markets group.

On returning to South Africa, Anthony started his own business in the finance and venture capital industry. After identifying an opportunity in providing off-shore financial planning to South African residents Anthony joined Carrick as a senior adviser and to deliver product development, training and strategic input.

Anthony is both Chairman of the Carrick Investment Committee and Director of Investments and Products.

Samantha Taylor-Bowen - Carrick Wealth

Samantha Bowen

Director: Client Servicing

Samantha was born and raised in Portsmouth, UK and attended school in the English country town of Petersfield. An entrepreneur at heart, Samantha ran her own business for five years before joining the financial services industry in a senior position with an international company.

Samantha emigrated to South Africa and joined an international financial services company where over a six-year period she grew their African footprint in Botswana and Zambia. Under Samantha's helm the teams achieved their best performances in 2012 and 2013. Samantha believes in continuous learning and expanding her skills. She has achieved certification from the Milpark Business School for financial planning and the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment.

Samantha's success in the industry didn't go unnoticed and she was headhunted to set up the Cape Town office when Carrick open its doors. Under Samantha's leadership her personal team dominated, achieving numerous awards for performance in 2015 and 2016. Samantha was personally nominated for the Annual Directors Award in 2015 and won the top Associate Award in 2016.

In her role as head of Client Servicing she understands the importance of being there for clients all of the time with regular updates on performance, any legislation changes, invites to seminars, new products and services that might be of interest to Carrick's clients.

Rashay Makan

Director: Strategic Projects

Rashay completed his schooling at Grey High School in Port Elizabeth; thereafter, he went on to complete his Bachelor of Business Science Management Studies with honours in Finance from the University of Cape Town. In addition, he is currently in the process of completing his CFA charter.

Rashay began his career in one of the world's largest advisory firms where he gained his knowledge and skills in the financial advisory industry. His passion for the industry, leadership ability and entrepreneurial flair saw him quickly promoted Managing Director of the Carrick Development Academy where he led a team of 28 graduate trainees aiming to become Associates within the Carrick Group.

Recently appointed to the Carrick Board as head of Strategic Projects, Rashay will be part of the team driving expansion across the continent while continuing to play an important role in the Development Academy.

Rashay is an avid sports fan and in his time downtime, you'll find him supporting Arsenal in the English Premier League. He also has a love for the outdoors and enjoys hiking and swimming at every opportunity he gets.

Greg Stockton

Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent in the UK, Greg is widely traveled and highly experienced in the financial services industry. He has held positions in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore, Qatar, Dubai and of course South Africa, where he's found his true 'home'.

His vast experience in wealth and asset management combined with his business development and leadership skills serve him well in spearheading the Carrick 20/20 expansion strategy into Africa alongside Mike Potts, Director: Retail Sales. With a track record of developing some of the most successful advisers and managers globally, Greg is an inspirational leader. He has received numerous leadership awards, including being named one of the top senior managers in the industry.

Greg thoroughly enjoys financial services; however, his passion lies with the development of people and business. "Seeing people succeed because of the direct input I had into that person's life, is what inspires me as a leader every day", he says.
