Craig Featherby - Carrick Wealth

Craig believes that building a culture of leadership starts with those at the top – the drivers of the vision. Over a span of fourteen years in the financial services industry, Craig has concentrated on the craft of management, coupled with a passion for the financial services industry. He draws on a career that has taken him to the apex of the international finance industry, as far as the Middle East and Asia, and to some of the top positions in the financial world.

Born in Zimbabwe, junior-schooled in Melbourne, Australia, and educated at Kwazulu Natal’s Michaelhouse, throughout his journey Craig has carried with him the principles of leadership. From his early days at Ernst & Young and at ABSA Bank Limited, his career has taken him to the Middle East as a Financial Adviser and to the Far East, where he was involved in Wealth Management and Offshore Investments, eventually becoming Regional Manager for Africa (Financial Advisory/Wealth Management) for one of the largest independent offshore financial consultancies.

A philanthropist at heart, Craig believes that leadership should be translated into action to uplift the community. In this respect, he is a co-founder of Signature of Hope Trust and a generous donor to various NGOs.

Craig and his wife Di enjoy living life to the full. At weekends you'll often find them indulging in their love of nature, wildlife and fishing.

Bryan Austen - Carrick Wealth

Bryan Austen

Director: Finance 

Bryan has always had a passion for numbers and financial markets and participated in the JSE Schools Challenge and UCT Mathematics competition to name a few. Bryan joined the workforce as a financial manager.  He went on to achieve his B.Comm from UNISA (Economics and Finance) studying while he worked as a general and financial manager in the printing industry where he successfully decreased costs by over 20% in three years.

Wanting experience in the corporate arena and to follow his true passion, Bryan joined an international financial services company in the role of Financial Officer: Africa.  It was here that Bryan gained invaluable experience setting up offices throughout Africa and taking on roles in admin and human resources. He has also passed his CISI and FSB regulatory examinations.

Bryan joined Carrick as Group Financial Manager and shortly thereafter promoted to Group Financial Director. Bryan was jointly responsible for setting up the financial, administration and human resources divisions both locally and in the new offices within the Carrick group.  Responsible for the overall financial functioning of the organisation, Bryan plays a key role in guiding the board with investment decisions, ensuring the security of the company's assets.

Bryan is the Financial Officer of the Signature of Hope Trust, which he handles with pride. He's a firm believer in giving back to the community and those in need.

For Bryan, life is all about balance. When he's not behind his desk analysing figures and trends, you'll find him spending time with his wife and son.

Bryan also likes taking part in extreme sport. He completed the gruelling IronMan triathlon (2014).

Rashay Makan

Director: Operations

Rashay completed his schooling at Grey High School in Port Elizabeth; thereafter, he went on to complete his Bachelor of Business Science Management Studies with honours in Finance from the University of Cape Town. In addition, he is currently in the process of completing his CFA charter.

Rashay began his career in one of the world's largest advisory firms where he gained his knowledge and skills in the financial advisory industry. His passion for the industry, leadership ability and entrepreneurial flair saw him quickly promoted Managing Director of the Carrick Development Academy where he led a team of 28 graduate trainees aiming to become Associates within the Carrick Group.

Things he's interested in:

Rashay is an avid sports fan and in his time downtime, you'll find him supporting Arsenal in the English Premier League. He also has a love for the outdoors and enjoys hiking and swimming at every opportunity he gets.
